Assistant General Manager Event Center - Upscale Casual Dining
The Assistant General Manager (AGM) is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of an upscale casual American restaurant, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, operational efficiency, and a positive, service-driven work culture. The AGM will work closely with the General Manager and leadership team to uphold the restaurant’s reputation for quality, hospitality, and excellence. This role includes staff supervision, financial oversight, and ensuring compliance with all regulations and company standards.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Guest Experience Leadership: Maintain a high level of guest satisfaction by delivering exceptional service, addressing guest concerns promptly, and fostering a welcoming atmosphere.
- VIP & Special Guest Relations: Personalize service for high-profile guests, ensuring memorable dining experiences and repeat visits.
- Operational Oversight: Supervise daily restaurant operations, ensuring service standards, cleanliness, and efficiency.
- Staff Training & Development: Recruit, train, and mentor front-of-house team members, including servers, hosts, bartenders, and food runners, fostering a positive and growth-oriented culture.
- Scheduling & Labor Management: Support the General Manager in front-of-house schedules to optimize efficiency, control labor costs, and ensure proper coverage.
- Financial & Inventory Management: Monitor operational expenses, food and beverage costs, and supply usage. Oversee inventory ordering, stock levels, and rotation to minimize waste.
- Payroll & Compliance: Support the General Manager in payroll processing, adherence to labor laws, and compliance with all company policies and safety regulations.
- Special Events & Private Dining: Assist with planning and executing special events, holiday promotions, and private dining experiences to enhance revenue and guest engagement.
- Menu Innovation & Collaboration: Work with the culinary team to contribute ideas for seasonal menus, specials, and beverage programs.
- Performance Evaluation: Set clear performance expectations, conduct evaluations, and provide ongoing coaching to maintain high service standards.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Enforce food safety, alcohol compliance, and sanitation protocols in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for operational enhancements, implement best practices, and drive overall efficiency.
- Flexibility & Availability: Be prepared to work nights, weekends, holidays, and special events as needed to maintain operational excellence.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
- Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to delegate tasks efficiently while maintaining quality control.
- Knowledge of upscale dining trends, food and beverage operations, and guest service best practices.
- Proficiency in restaurant management software, POS systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Financial acumen, including experience managing budgets, labor costs, and inventory.
- Strong commitment to hospitality and guest satisfaction.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in food and beverage management, with 2 years in a fine dining or luxury dining environment preferred.
- Previous experience in a high-volume, upscale restaurant setting preferred.
- ServSafe and Alcohol Compliance certifications required.
- Court of Master Sommeliers Level 1 certification or equivalent beverage knowledge preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, reach, bend, kneel, and lift heavy objects as part of daily operational duties.
- Ability to communicate clearly in both verbal and written English.
- Strong presence in the dining room, leading by example to ensure service excellence.
