Health & Safety Supervisor – Event Center

Ocala, FL

The World Equestrian Center is looking for a Health & Safety Supervisor to oversee and enforce health and safety procedures across the facility. This role will focus on ensuring food safety practices are followed and maintaining a clean, safe environment for all staff and guests. The supervisor will collaborate with various departments, including chefs, stewarding, and FOH managers, to design and implement training programs, conduct audits, and promote best practices in food handling, storage, and overall safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Performance Oversight: Address and resolve health and safety issues, ensuring they are properly handled and followed through.
  • Facility Management: Oversee critical areas such as food contact surfaces, temperature control, and washing stations to ensure safety standards are consistently met.
  • Health Inspection: Responsible for accompanying the health inspector and WEC leadership during department walk-throughs.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Provide coaching and support to staff, including leading and scheduling regular safety training sessions.
  • Planning & Prevention: Develop and implement proactive health and safety procedures, emphasizing prevention and continuous improvement.
  • Sanitation Compliance: Ensure adherence to sanitation regulations at local, state, and federal levels. Communicate the importance of maintaining cleanliness and organization throughout food service areas.
  • Quality Control: Monitor food preparation, storage, organization, and sanitation practices to ensure both internal and external quality standards are met.
  • Communication: Foster clear and consistent communication between team members and management to ensure smooth and effective operations.

Physical Requirements:

  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Must be capable of performing physical tasks such as kneeling, crouching, and climbing.
  • Vision & Hearing: Must have good vision for close-up tasks and clear hearing for safety monitoring and communication.
  • Endurance: Ability to stand for up to 8 hours per day

Required Skills, Experience, and Education:

  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Experience: At least 1-2 years of experience in a similar health and safety or food safety management role.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong organizational skills and a keen eye for detail are necessary.
  • Leadership & Training: Ability to develop staff through teaching and training initiatives.
  • Certifications: ServSafe certification is required.
